PRAYER
READING OF THE LAW
CONFESSION OF SIN
“Our Father in heaven, we confess that we have broken your commandments in thought, word and deed; by the things we have done and the things we have left undone. We acknowledge that we are sinners in need of your grace. That we are prone to wander from your narrow path. And so we pray that you would have mercy upon us, that you would forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. For we ask it in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and according to His finished work, Amen.”
ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON:
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”; “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”
(1 John 1:8-9; Psalm 103: 11-12)
