Saved, Saved and Saved Again!

11/28/2020

CALL TO WORSHIP

PSALM 103: 1-14
|  Sing Psalms
Praise God, my soul! With all my heart Let me exalt his holy name

PRAYER

CONFESSION OF FAITH  |  Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

CONFESSION OF SIN
"Our gracious Father, you have called us to come to You, with the promise that those who come will not be turned away.  We come to you just as we are, in all our need.  We confess our sins and failures, our departures from Your good and just laws, our ingratitude for all Your tender mercies, our proud pursuit often of our own way.  Forgive our sins, failures and shortcomings.  We cast ourselves upon You, our merciful God, and plead not any righteousness of our own but Your grace.  Nothing in our hands we bring; simply to Christ’s cross we cling.  Blot out our sins and cleanse us as we bow before You in the name of Your Son, our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen."

CALL TO WORSHIP

PSALM 32:1-8
|  Sing Psalms
How blessed the one who has received forgiveness for his sin!

CONFESSION OF SIN
“Our Father, as we look back on the week which has past, we confess that we have not presented our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to you. We have entertained impure thoughts, had selfish desires and acted in ways that do not accord with your holy commandments. We confess that in our sin, we are often slow to pray, lacking in faith and apathetic about reading your Word. Have mercy on us, we pray and forgive these our sins. Grant us the grace of true repentance and fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we might then walk in the light and live lives worthy of the gospel. For we ask it in the name of Christ, our Lord, Amen.”

The Unstoppable Will of God

11/1/2020

CALL TO WORSHIP

PSALM 139 (b): 1-8, 13-16, 23-24
|  Sing Psalms
LORD, you have searched my life and know my heart; You search me and you know me through and through.

PRAYER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Our Father in heaven,

In this difficult season which you have ordained, we acknowledge that our greatest need is to be humble and still before you, to turn from our sin and to hunger and thirst after Christ and His righteousness.

Yet we confess that our tendency is to seek comfort in earthly things, neglect the gift of prayer and to become superficial in our thinking.

Forgive our unbelief, we pray, and help us to “discern this time” and to number our days that we might get a heart of wisdom. Fill us with Your Spirit, that we might live distinct, fruitful and God-glorifying lives in all the days to come.

For we ask all it in the name of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ,

Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON  |  1 John 1:8-9

SCRIPTURE READING  |  Acts 23:12-35

Sermon  |  “The Unstoppable Will of God.”  |  Rev. Paul Gibson

PRAYER

HYMN 774  |  Praise!
A sovereign protector I have, unseen yet forever at hand, unchangeably faithful to save, almighty to rule and command.

BENEDICTION

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God…For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
    Exodus 20:8-11
