HOME WORSHIP  |  29th March

3/29/2020

CALL TO WORSHIP  |  Psalm 47 2.

PSALM 97:1-‐7,11-‐12  |  Sing Psalms  |  Tune: Mainzer
(see Psalm 103:8-‐22 in sing psalms app.)

PRAYER
  • Adoration (praising God for  who He is and what He is like/His attributes),
  • Thanksgiving (Giving thanks to God for all He has given and continues to give)
  • Supplication (Requesting His help, presence, leading and provision – especially for the people of God in our time of worship on the Lord’s Day)

CONFESSION OF SIN
Almighty God, Our Father in heaven, You have loved us with an everlasting love, but we have not loved you in return You have called us by your Word and Spirit, but we have not listened to your voice You have set us on paths of righteousness for your name’s sake yet we have strayed from your way; Have mercy on us we pray, for sins of thought, word and deed, for things we have done and what we have left undone, Cleanse us by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, renew a right spirit within us and lead us in the everlasting way, For the sake of Christ and His Kingdom,
Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
“If we have been united with Christ in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a  resurrection like his. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but  the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:5, 10-‐11)

SCRIPTURE READING  |  Psalm 85,  Isaiah 42:24-‐25

RECORDED SERMON  |  “When God shakes the nations.”  |  Rev. Paul Gibson
PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
Pray that:

• God would pour out His Spirit upon the nations, granting repentance and a great turning to Him in Government, throughout society and in the church

We would see, in the spread of this virus throughout the world, our own fragility and dependence on God’s Grace in Christ

The church would be holy as God is holy and that as Christians we would joyfully  love our neighbour and be clear with the gospel – the power of God  for salvation!

Whilst we are in virtual “lock-‐down” and services are cancelled, Christians would come to have a newfound appreciation for the assembly of God’s people on the Lord’s Day (Psalm 42:4) and be ready to worship Him like never before/That we would see this as an opportunity to devote ourselves to the Word and be alone with God in prayer

That those in Government would be kept healthy and given the wisdom and strength to rule well and make sound decisions in these days; that politicians would not be partisan but band together as those who surely share the same concerns; for Prime Minister Boris Johnston to make a swift recovery from illness

That those working in healthcare would be kept healthy and given all of the skill, wisdom and strength they need to care for the sick and the dying.

For Ministers in the Free Church of Scotland and other denominations to be strong in the Lord and faithful ambassadors of His truth in days of much unbelief & falsehood.

PSALM 85: 1-‐9  |  Sing Psalms  |  Tune: Austrian Hymn

BENEDICTION
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.” Amen

HOME WORSHIP  |  22nd March

3/22/2020

CALL TO WORSHIP  |  Psalm 46:1-11

PSALM 46:1-6; 10-11  |  Sing Psalms  |  tune - Stroudwater

PRAYER
This prayer is one of:
  • Adoration (praising God for who He is and what He is like/His attributes),
  • Thanksgiving (Giving thanks to God for all He has given and continues to give)
  • Confession (Open acknowledgement and sorrow for our sins)
  • Supplication (Requesting His help, presence, leading and provision – especially for the people of God in our time of Lord’s Day worship)

CONFESSION OF FAITH  |  Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING  |  Psalm 121

RECORDED SERMON  |  "From where does my help come?”  |  Rev. Paul Gibson
PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
Pray for:
  • The grace of repentance in all the nations of the earth (that men would see in this pandemic their own fragility, sin and need of the only Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ).
  • The church at large: for repentance of worldliness, luke-warmness and spiritual apathy; for the grace to be distinct and caring in our communities and with our neighbours.
  • For our government – that those in power would be humbled and brought to see that “unless the Lord builds up the house its labourers build in vain”; wisdom in decision making.
  • For the NHS and those seeking to care for the sick; teachers and school pupils.
  • For those in our community who live alone, are frail or facing very uncertain times with work.

PSALM 121  |  Sing Psalms  |  tune – Trewen

BENEDICTION
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the
presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever, Amen.” (Jude: 24-25)

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God…For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
    Exodus 20:8-11
