CALL TO WORSHIP

PSALM 116 (1-9)  |  Sing Psalms
I love the LORD because he heard my voice; He listened when I cried to him for aid

PRAYER

CONFESSION OF FAITH    The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God, the Father| Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting,
Amen.

CALL TO CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN  |  Galatians 5:22

CONFESSION OF SIN
“Our Father, we confess that our lives have often been a poor reflection of the work of your Holy Spirit with us. We have been lacking in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We confess that at times we have given ‘an opportunity for the flesh’ and have not been focused on pleasing you and living for your glory. Have mercy upon us and forgive our sins, we pray. Fill us with your Spirit and grant us the grace to produce fruit in keeping with repentance, such that the whole of our lives would be a testimony to your grace in the gospel. For we ask it in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

PSALM 13
Lord from the depths I call to you; Lord, hear me from on high, And give attention to my voice when I for mercy cry.

PRAYER

READING OF THE BEATITUDES (MATTHEW 5)

CONFESSION OF SIN
“Merciful God and our Father in heaven, we thank for your grace in the gospel and the new life which you have given to us through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. But we confess that our lives are often a poor reflection of all that He describes in the sermon on the mount. Instead of mourning over sin, we have been casual and complacent about it. Instead of hungering and thirsting for righteousness, we have preferred to chase after that which brings instant gratification. Whereas we are called to be pure in heart, we have allowed ourselves to be drawn towards that which is impure. Please have mercy upon us and forgive our many sins. Cleanse our hearts, we pray, and sanctify us in your truth – that we might be renewed in our faith, know the joy of our salvation and represent you well in the coming days. For we ask it all in Christ’s name, Amen."

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned – every one – to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:4-6

SCRIPTURE READING              Isaiah 26
PRAYER

PSALM 23 (PSALTER)
The LORD’s my shepherd, I’ll not want. He makes me down to lie. In pastures green: he leadeth me the quiet waters by.

READING OF THE LAW

CONFESSION OF SIN
“Our Father in heaven, we confess that we have broken your commandments in thought, word and deed; by the things we have done and the things we have left undone. We acknowledge that we are sinners in need of your grace. That we are prone to wander from your narrow path. And so we pray that you would have mercy upon us, that you would forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. For we ask it in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and according to His finished work, Amen.”

ASSURANCE OF GOD’S PARDON:
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”; “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”
(1 John 1:8-9; Psalm 103: 11-12)

SCRIPTURE READING  |  Acts 2:1-2; Psalm 122

RECORDED SERMON  |  “Let us go to the house of the LORD!"  |  Rev. Paul Gibson
The sermon will publish here shortly after the service has ended. It will also be available at this link - www.sermonaudio.com
PRAYER

PSALM 122  |  Sing Psalms
"To the LORD’s house!” they were calling and with joy I went with them. Now at last our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem.

BENEDICTION

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God…For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
    Exodus 20:8-11
