“If they persecuted me…”  |  27th September

9/26/2020

CALL TO WORSHIP

PSALM 105:1-11, 41-45

Give thanks to the LORD GOD and call on his name

PRAYER

CONFESSION OF FAITH
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP  |  Psalm 126:1-3

PSALM 32:1-8  |  Sing Psalms
How blessed the one who has received forgiveness for his sin! Whose sins are covered from God’s face, Whose debt is cancelled in God’s grace; there’s no deceit in him.

PRAYER

CONFESSION OF SIN
“Our Father in heaven, you have graciously filled our lives with so many wonderful things. You have blessed us with friends, family and a level of wealth that most people in this world can scarce imagine. We confess that we are prone to love your good gifts more than we love you - worshipping that which is created instead of worshipping our Creator. Help us, we pray, to recognise the idols in our lives, to repent of our sin and to set Jesus Christ apart as Lord in our hearts. Forgive our sins and guide us in paths of righteousness - that we might live to the honour and praise of our Saviour and Lord in all the days to come, Amen.”

ASSURANCE OF GOD'S PARDON  |  Romans 3:23-26

CALL TO WORSHIP  |  Psalm 135:1-4

PSALM 135:1-6; 13-21  |  Sing Psalms
Praise the LORD, all you his servants!

PRAYER

CONFESSION OF SIN
“Our Father in heaven, we thank you that in Jesus Christ our Lord you have brought us from death to life and from darkness to light. Yet we confess that even during this past week, we have not always walked by the Spirit or lived in the light, but have instead been driven by the desires of the flesh. Have mercy on us, we pray and forgive all of our sins. Cleanse us from evil by the blood of our Saviour and fill us with Your Spirit, that we might live distinct lives which are worthy of the gospel. For we ask it in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and for His sake,”

Amen.

CONFESSION OF SIN

“Our Father in heaven, You have loved us with an everlasting love and set us on a path of righteousness for your own name’s sake. Yet we have often strayed from that path and sinned against you in thought, word and deed. We confess that we have disobeyed your commandments, been slow to pray and have failed to loved you with all of our heart and soul and mind. Forgive our sins, we pray and cleanse us from all that is displeasing in Your sight. Transform our lives by the renewing of our minds and strengthen us by Your Spirit, that we might live distinct and godly lives in the coming days. For we ask all of this, in the great name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen."

They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; none walk in godly ways.

BENEDICTION

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God…For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”
    Exodus 20:8-11
