Dear Friends,
As you know, owing to the Coronavirus, the Government has effectively put the nation on lock-down for the next three weeks. This means that at least until week commencing Monday 13 th April, we will have no public services or any other corporate gatherings.
We are very aware that this is a very difficult time for our church family, as it is for society at large, and we therefore want to mention a few things to help you stay strong physically, mentally and spiritually in the coming days.
WORSHIP, WORD AND PRAYER
First of all, please do make use of the home worship order of service and online sermon that will be made available here on the website each Sunday morning. We may not be able to meet together physically, but it continues to be our joy to set aside one day in seven as a Sabbath to the Lord, give ourselves to the means of His grace and declare His praise. This is for our spiritual good and to His honour and glory!
In addition, please do continue to devote yourself to the word and prayer each day so as to stay strong in the Lord. I would especially recommend the Ligonier teaching series which has been made available online for free due to the Coronavirus at:
https://www.ligonier.org/blog/all-teaching-series-now-free-stream/
THOSE UNABLE TO GET OUT FOR BASIC FOODS AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
We are especially conscious of those in our congregation who may find it difficult to get out for basic foods, prescriptions and other essential items. To this end, with the café currently being closed, Emma Smith will be available to do a weekly shop for those items (i.e. not a full supermarket shop, but basics which may be lacking).
If you are in need of anything, please phone Emma (07854 133584) to place your order no later than 12pm each Monday. Emma will then aim to purchase your required items and deliver them by the Friday of that same week. (She will also coordinate worship materials for those who are not able to download resources electronically.)
LONELY, DEPRESSED, NEEDING TO CHAT/PRAY?
Whilst I am trying to phone round and keep in touch with as many people as I can, please remember that you can call me at any time on 07880 702881. Remember that your Elders are also available to chat, pray and do what they can to help.
Finally, please remember that we serve a faithful God who is sovereign over all the events of these days, continues to watch over His covenant children and who has already secured the victory in His Blessed Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. May we use this time wisely and be diligent in prayer, that God, in His anger, would remember mercy (Habakkuk 3:2) and grant the grace of repentance and faith to many.
With Love in Christ, Your friend and pastor,
Paul Gibson
